Attendance percentage shows how often a student was present out of the total number of class days.
Attendance percentage formula
Step 1: Count the days attended
Start with the number of days the student was present. This is the attendance number you want to compare.
Step 2: Count the total class days
Next, count the total number of school or class days in the period you are checking. This could be a week, month, quarter, or full school year.
Step 3: Divide days attended by total class days
Divide the number of attended days by the total number of class days.
Step 4: Multiply by 100
Multiply the result by 100 to turn it into a percentage.
Example 1
A student attended 23 days out of 25 total class days.
Example 2
A student attended 17 days out of 20 total class days.
Common mistakes
- using absences instead of attended days in the formula
- forgetting to multiply by 100
- mixing up total class days and days attended
